Join us for the second event in our 2017 series — Building A Vibrant Community: A Series on Self-Direction, Inclusion and Belonging

Al CondeluciHaving a network of meaningful relationships—called "social capital"—is a critical component of building a healthy, happy life for all people. Internationally respected scholar Dr. Al Condeluci will examine the importance of social capital for people who have disabilities, how friendships can be better developed, and how this leads to inclusive, vibrant communities.

The morning session will cover the realities of relationships and the impact of social capital in our lives. We will examine social capital and the impact of community engagement.

The afternoon session will focus on strategies of building social capital and ways to develop friendships. Al will engage us in exercises to help frame concepts.

Conference Schedule

Registration and breakfast—8:00-8:30am

Morning session—8:30-11:30am

Lunch break—11:30am-1:00pm

Afternoon session—1:00-4:00pm

Registration and Fees

Fee: $99/person for full day; $59/person for half-day session

Fee includes continental breakfast and afternoon snacks. Lunch is not included in the registration fee. The Strong offers a food court and restaurant on-site.

Registration is required by August 14, 2017.

About Al Condeluci, PhD

Al Condeluci has been an advocate, a catalyst for building community capacities, and leader in understanding social culture since 1970. He has worked as an attendant, caseworker, advocate, planner, program director, and CEO of CLASS—a family of corporations dedicated to its mission of a community where everyone belongs. He is a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh.

Al is a national leader and consultant on human services and community issues. He speaks annually to national and international audiences, and has published multiple books.
