What is Self-Direction?
Self-Direction means you choose the supports and services that work best for you. You and your circle of support (also known as a planning team) develop a person-centered plan, including a self-directed budget to pay for the staff and other supports and services needed at home and in the community. These can include one-to-one staff, respite, employment supports, classes, therapies, transportation, housing subsidies, and other items.
How can Starbridge help?
Starbridge’s Fiscal Intermediary (FI) service team supports individuals who have a self-directed budget. Our staff members can help with –

- Helping you keep track of your budget and expenditures
- Ensuring that service documentation and Medicaid billing are done in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Since 2004, our FI team has helped people successfully direct their own lives. Here’s what a few of those who have utilized these services have to say –
“Really, really satisfied. I have great staff and I get to do so many things.”
“It’s great to be able to have a program that’s flexible to fit our needs.”
“Responsive and always willing to work with us to problem solve.”
Our FI team is here to assist you in reaching your goals.
