When your child turns 18, they have the legal right to make decisions for themselves. This series will explore options available for people who have disabilities so they and their families can make informed decisions about their future.
People who are over 18 years old and have disabilities may benefit from a legally appointed guardian’s assistance in making personal, medical or financial decisions. We will examine the requirements, processes and protections for a person who has a disability under 17A Guardianship in New York. Determining who can be a guardian will also be discussed.
Mr. Gray, an attorney and partner in Gray & Feldman, LLP, specializes in the areas of estate planning, special needs planning, Supplemental Needs Trusts, estate administration, elder law, tax and general business law.
