Family Fun - Dining Out in a Safe Space

Activities for families of children with developmental disabilities in Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties

Going out to eat as a family can be tough when the experience is overwhelming or uncomfortable for our kids with disabilities. Building up your comfort level with dining out can take time, but how do you get started?

Starbridge is partnering with the Perkins Restaurant in Olean to offer a more inclusive, sensory-friendly, and judgment-free dining experience.

• We will be in a quieter room separate from the main dining room.
• A limited menu will be provided so that making choices will be easier.
• Sensory items and activities will be available in case kids get restless.

Registration is limited to 25 individuals to ensure sensory friendly environment. Children must be accompanied at all times by an adult family member.

One gas card will be provided to each family that attends.

Participation is restricted to families of children with developmental disabilities and those living in the same household. Our “Family Fun Events” are funded through grants from OPWDD.

For people with a Self-Directed budget, OPWDD requires your budget to cover the cost of participation before attending. Contact your support broker or Kari Cayton if you have questions about using your budget for this event.
