Dear Friends:

Each October, we observe two national initiatives: National Disability Employment Awareness Month and Bullying Prevention Month.

Both causes link to a vital part of our mission: transforming communities to include everyone.

Cynthia L and Tim M

Year-round, our employment team connects people to work opportunities and supports so that they succeed on the job. The road to Cynthia Lynch's dream job was not always an easy one, and Cynthia worked at a variety of other places before finding her current position. "You learn from your mistakes over time," she comments.

Cynthia’s story highlights the success a person can feel when they finally connect with the right job. Click to read more of Cynthia's success story.

Bullying prevention is another important cause. Whether we are working in the classroom with children to share our Building Bridges program, or teaching families how they can intervene and combat bullying, we are committed to promoting awareness that we are more alike than different.

Don't miss the final 2017 conferences hosted by Starbridge

2017 Education Conference

November 15, 2017  ~  8:00am-4:00pm

Locust Hill Country Club, Pittsford, NY

This year’s focus is Restorative Practices: Building Connections to Change Behaviors, Repair Relationships, and Improve Results.

Restorative Practices are an emerging alternative to zero-tolerance discipline and suspension policies in schools. One important component is the shift to being trauma-informed; that is, seeking to understand first what may be going on in a child’s life that could result in them acting out at school.

Restorative Practices provide a framework for teachers and staff to work constructively with students to recognize the effects of their behavior, take responsibility, and work proactively to repair damage. A team of experts – both national and local – will present on how Restorative Practices make a profound difference in schools across the country. Reserve your seat today!
